So, brand new CX3, 8 days old, 130 miles on the clock. Just returned to the car after work and I have no gears. Shifter is just flapping around and is no longer connected to the gear box it seems.
Not that happy to be honest......
Break down :(
Sorry to hear that, Gadgetman.
Pretty unusual situation for such a new car.

Thankfully the rescue guy sent out got me back on the road. He took the gaiter off and the gear selector cable had completely come off the gear lever. The nut that should have held it in place had obviously never been put on properly in the factory, had fallen off completely and was lying on the floor in the console.
Managed to get it on finger tight but didn't have a spanner small enough to fully do it up. Drove home no problem and will snug it up in the morning. Happy it is a simple fix but hoping I've not got a Friday afternoon car. Picture is from the passenger seat with the nut back on but not fully done up.

Good news that it got you back home.
Do you live far from your dealer? If practical, I would drop the car 'round there in the morning and get them to tighten up the bolt whilst you wait. If the repair guy files a report that he didn't tighten it, and you get the dealer to do it, they can't blame you if anything should go wrong with it in the future.

That's sounds pretty unique tbh. never see it mentioned anywhere we before. It's. Bit scary the number of components on a car. And it's truly amazing how reliably they are screwed together.
