Just for info, after extending the clamp bolt by about 50mm, I was able to fit a full size spare which I’m much happier about;

.....when you look how much smaller the spacesaver is;

Have you done away with the boot carpet as it doesn't look like it would lay flat (tyre higher than polystyrene around it)?

Presumably the boot floor still fits OK but only on the higher of the two levels.

What did you do to extend the clamp bolt; did you just find a longer bolt?

I wonder if you can order the polystyrene bits and the jack from a dealer without the space saver wheel?
Julian.

It's the original 18" summer wheel which is snug. As the winters are 16" and a tad smaller, I reckon they will easily fit.

Thanks for the answer anchorman.Time to now buy myself a spare at last, if it means only extending the bolt.

I'll remove the bolt and measure it on Tuesday. Remind me if I don't do it.

OK, you an see what I've done here. I've found a piece of square section aluminium bar and drilled and tapped it out to 8mm then cut the head off an 8mm bolt and used a pair of lock nuts to make up the extension. I had to knock the edges off the ally extension to allow it to pass through the sub so it isn't gorgeous but it works.

You can see here that by extending it to 195mm or thereabouts it will be fine. It gives about 10-15mm of starting thread.
