Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
Update: it’s been 31 days now since SG Petch took my car in to sort this problem. (Remember they had the car fur 3 weeks last time). Still not fixed. Last conversation I had with the technician highlighted that they don’t strip the engines down to decoke/decarbonise, they just use a blasting machine...

Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
Update: service manager called me. And coincidentally Mazda ‘have just got back to them’ and told them what to do about the problem. I asked if their was a warranty recall on the injectors/EGR valve or anything else. I was told no. No new parts are needed apparently- just a though decarbonising. (Cl...

Re: Possible Clutch Release Bearing issue??
To be honest clutches can wear prematurely. If you hold the clutch down at every junction and do a lot of stop start driving then it’s very possible to wear a release bearing and or the clutch friction plate out at 30k miles. You may also ‘ride’ the clutch unwittingly- eg do you rest your foot on th...

Re: Expensive!
Wouldn’t it be great if insurance companies gave you 50% of your premiums back at the end of the year if you don’t make a claim?! (Assuming you have full NCD).

Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
Update: SG Petch failed to ring me back with an update as promised, again. I rang them today (13 days after I took the vehicle into the dealership). Still no progress. Car not worked on since last conversation. Service dept said they are still waiting for Mazda to reply to them with technical advice...

Expensive!
I thought I'd try Adrian Flux for my renewal yesterday... This quote was more expensive than my existing company! They suggested on the phone that they put me through to another company. I had to give all my details again. This quote was £440, so this company then also transferred me. Again I had to...

Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
Yes, the car is still under Mazda warranty. The mechanic informed me that the injectors on mazdas do cause carbon build up, as well as the EGR valve. The previously owner only did around 6k a year and so this will have been all town driving. And very probably supermarket fuel. I live about 300 yards...

Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
@Jtonline No, I bought it used. From NortonWay Mazda dealership. I was wondering if the previous owner had run it on low cetane fuel, but even so that shouldnt cause such a problem at 20K miles.

Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
Update: SG Petch acknowdged that it will be a major engine strip down which will probably lead to new valves. However.... the warranty is the issue now. Interestingly, the dealership has to check with Mazda that the warranty will cover it!!! (suggest not a failure but a wear and tear). However, I wi...

Re: Check Engine Light and loss of power
Talking to an experienced mechanic (Bmw/mini) it is a very common side effect of this stupid idea of the EGR, that in an attempt to reduce the emissions, actually feed exhaust gas straight into the inlet manifold. Not only does this reduce performance, it also causes excessive premature carbon build...
