Re: Android Auto and Car play

The HUD is the most under-used component in my car - generally forget it's even there, so not a deal breaker for me. I'd rather have a sensible route that has accurate traffic info and ETAs. The Mazda system just doesn't do that well enough in my opinion.

Re: Android Auto and Car play

It's a pretty simple home install if you want it cheaper. Buy the new USB hub and cables and spend a couple of hours updating the software (first) then replacing the hub and cables. Maybe recent versions of the car already come with the newer cables factory installed? I put it my CX-3 a few weeks ag...

Re: Condensation on windscreen

I've found that simply not having the AC on all the time has helped, but still far from perfect. The rear screen heater is so slow to work it drives me mad. That and the fact that lowering the fron windows doesn't clear any external water off them....... It certainly isn't a winter car.

Re: CarPlay finally

Following up after now having Carplay working for a couple of weeks, all good apart from one major downside. Having it in two cars gives me the opportunity for side by side comparison and the Mazda system being 'locked out' of touchscreen use when moving is a real disadvantage in my opinion. It is v...

Re: CarPlay finally

So, all pretty easy. It took about two hours start to finish including the software upgrade time. I slid out the CD unit which then exposes the top side of the USB hub. You can then use something thin to slide between the fascia and the tabs on the top of the hub to depress them. The top edge can th...

Re: CarPlay finally

Thanks JT. I'll try removing the CD player first and see if it's of any benefit. If there is going to be a large amount of console trim removal I may well just go down the drill-out route. I've been using both Waze and Google Maps via Carplay in another vehicle we have and both a million miles bette...

Re: CarPlay finally

A question re the “drilling out” of the old hub. I have the new kit to install this weekend. I don’t really want to wreck the old hub but then again I’d rather not be removing all of the console trim to get access. Would the old USB hub not be removable simply by sliding the CD player out, which is ...

Re: Condensation on windscreen

I have a 2017 CX3 and I have to say the winter issues are, fo me, its biggest downfall. I leave the house before 6 each morning and don't get back to the car until about 7 in the evening. I find it mists up terribly inside when parked, takes an age to clear the front windscreen (sometimes I just end...

Re: MY Mazda app

I have the app, but it only shows the original dealer pre-delivery check in the service section, it has never updated with the details of my first year service which was carried out by a different Mazda dealer.

Hikers? Ramblers? Dog walkers? Runners? Horse riders?

Absolutely agree, speaking as a cyclist, that we should obey the laws of the road, just as motorists should. How practical it is to introduce tests, well, that’s a different matter all together.
