Out-of-warranty replacement of power fold mirror motor

Just a heads-up. I have a 2015 CX-3 with power-fold mirrors (these are the ones which are not automatic - you turn the adjustment knob to fold them). But I would imagine that this would equally apply to the auto ones. My left-hand mirror recently stopped folding in. It just twitched a bit. I establi...

Re: Active Driving Display (HUD) not illuminated after flat battery

I removed and replaced that ROOM fuse as per that Mazda Service Bulletin. Restarted engine and the AD clearly found the correct vertical position because the display had gone off the screen. Put the AD height adjustment back to where it was before. Job done! Turned off engine and the screen retracte...

Re: Active Driving Display (HUD) not illuminated after flat battery

Thanks Julian Good idea to try the height adjustment - by cranking it up to maximum in the AD settings, the AD illuminations reappeared. What this reveals is that the plastic display screen goes too far forward when it is raised, so a normal mid-point setting for the AD height means that it drops of...

Active Driving Display (HUD) not illuminated after flat battery

Had not used our CX3 Sport Nav for 4 weeks, went to move it today to rotate the tyres a bit, battery was flat. Enough to turn the starter motor once but effectively dead. So jump-started off another vehicle. Was careful with the leads, followed Mazda procedure. Took it for a spin to test it and char...

OK thanks JT and Anchorman.
I like the concept of "a test of reasonableness".

Re: All Wheel Drive - Tyre Rolling Circumferences

No answers so I will answer myself just in case someone else has the same concerns with 4 wheel drive versions. The Dealer was not concerned about 1-1.5mm tread depth difference between front and rear, which is logical because fronts wear more than rears. As I had got 2 new ones on the front, for th...

All Wheel Drive - Tyre Rolling Circumferences

I used to have a Freelander 1 which was notorious for winding-up and overheating the viscous coupling unit (distributes power front/rear) should the rear tyre rolling circumference become smaller than the front tyre rolling circumference. What is the situation with the CX-3 AWD system? I know that t...

Re: Space saver

Okay I may get shouted down, but in 52 years of driving I have only had two punctures that have resulted in me changing a wheel. I used to be a sales rep and cover up to 40,000 miles a year. I am more than happy to use the repair kit supplied as a get you home option should it be necessary. I will ...

Re: Space saver

Don't most of the rescue service vans now carry some sort of universal spare which they can use if the car has no spare? As I understand it, RAC patrols carry a universal 17" 5 stud wheel (assuming they haven't just used it on their previous callout, I guess). Once fitted. the member drives th...
