Re: Low Dust Brake Pads

Really sorry for the delay in coming back to you. How quick a pad wears out depends on mileage and duty (temperature) so they may not be worn out at all. They usually “guesstimate” the life on a service but some mechanics are better than others at doing it. Personally, if I wanted to reduce the amou...

Re: premium v regular unleaded

If you read about how the Skyactive-G engine works, it runs at a higher compression ratio than a regular petrol engine (closer to that of a diesel). In a normal petrol engine to achieve such high compression ratios, one would need to use a higher octane rated fuel (the expensive stuff), but Mazda h...

Re: Wobbly number plate mount

Ignore part 1 of the attached pdf. The new number plate holder which is in a kit of parts that the dealer gets has the rivets stowed in clips on the back and part 1 is just telling you to remove the rivets. There should only be 2 rivets under the plastic caps. Just drill them out and the holder will...

Re: Locked out

If you were parked where there were any strong magnetic or electrical fields, the remote won’t work. It’s easier to do than you might think. Phone masts, substations and even those cheap wireless garage alarms can do it. If you park in exactly the same spot and it does it again, take a good look aro...

Re: Electric wing mirror got folded the wrong way

The mirror comes in about 4 parts. Cover, light, glass and main body. I think you might end up with the latter. I can’t remember the price and I can’t check before Sunday but maybe £100 plus VAT. That isn’t bad considering some are several hundred quid. The motors were a weak point so they might sta...

Re: Side mirror motor gear is broken

You buy the basic mirror but it’s the most expensive bit. If you need the coloured cover you can add that to the bill plus painting and be dead careful with the glass, it breaks easily.

They’ve definitely gone electronic on later CX5s.

Can you post a photo of your valve?

Re: Forum members air con experience

It’s amazing how stories get mixed up by interpretation. It was never a control issue, it was just down to airflow. It should have been obvious to the first mechanic even though the owner couldn’t explain it properly.

March wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2019 4:30 pm Take a look at the PDF attachments. Ethanol in regular petrol will corrode the engine. Having read this I use premium at least every 3 tanks. In my MX5 I use it in every tank.

Re: Wiper blades

I highly recommend Denso Hybrid wipers. You can get them from Eurocarparts with 50% off on Wednesday’s and they are original fit on the CX5. They look very similar to the original lobster back design of the original blades.
