I've noticed that sometimes just my actual speed is shown, other times it shows both my actual speed AND the speed limit (in the usual red-rimmed roundel). Is there any reason why the speed limit is sometimes not shown and other times it is?

No idea as it's a new feature on the display for the 2017 model

Maybe roads shown have no speed limit to display (roads as yet not speed defined). Just a thought'!! I notice that many roads on satnav have no speed limit shown anyway!!

Your actual speed is always displayed. As I understand it, the Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) system displays a speed limit sign in the Active Display when the front sensing camera (FSC) detects a speed limit sign at the side of the road, or the sat nav map knows the speed of the road and no actual road sign is detected by the FSC.

Download Owner's Manual BFU7 from here: https://www.mazda.co.uk/buying-owning/p ... d-manuals/
Then see page 4-128 onwards which describes the TSR symbols in the Active Display.

I only get current speed in my hud unit

I bet the current speed limit on the sat nav display.

Yes, Traffic Sign Recognition is a feature that's only on the new models.

I didn't realise the new models are on the road

My sat nav only shows the speed limit on major roads, not on minor B roads.
