Had engine light on last week with fault on system.( engine system malfunction) Took into dealer and diagnosed issue with management of turbo. Update on system appears to have fixed this. Anyone else had this issue- worrying!

One of the reasons I went for the CX3 petrol, no turbo.

There is a known issue whereby some Mazda2 & CX-3 vehicles with SKYACTIV-D 1.5 engines, may experience the check engine light on with DTC P2580:00 (Turbocharger speed sensor assembly circuit low input) or DTC P2581:00 (Turbocharger speed sensor assembly circuit high input) stored in the PCM memory when driving or starting the engine.

1) The amplifier of the speed sensor may be malfunctioning (Mazda2).
2) At low engine rpms (around idling), PCM may not detect turbocharger correctly.

The technician will clear the DTCs, then keep the engine rpm at 1,500 rpm for five seconds and check if the same DTC is stored or not.
If the same DTC is not stored then they will reprogram the PCM with new control logic. If the same DTC is stored, then a wiring check is performed and the speed sensor assembly is replaced with a modified one.

I had this on my car last week on start up. The engine ran fine and after a couple of trips the engine management light went off on its own. DTC P2580:00 was stored and my dealer reprogrammed the PCM with the latest calibration file. It's been OK so far.
Julian.

Ok that a little reassuring! Just hope the fix lasts and don't need a return visit the the dealer. Thanks
