Hi Dave.

No not yet. Have been looking at all the small suv's via 'what car'. All have they're good and bad points. The trouble is, I see something I like and it's either out of my price range or only available with a deisel engine. The nearest I can get to what I would like is the Hyundai Tucson 1.6 TGDi 2WD DCT Go SE Automatic, Petrol.

Then of course it's then a trip to hospital for surgery to get the wallet opened :D

I did look at a Hyundai Tucson and visited a dealer before deciding on a CX-3. It was soon after the new model had been released and trying to organise a test drive was like pulling teeth and I gave up. It is certainly at the top size wise of the small SUV category :-

Hyundai Tucson Length 4,475mm Width 1,849mm Height 1,651mm
Mazda CX-3 Length 4,275mm Width 1,765mm Height 1,535mm

For comparison with one in the next category :-

Mazda CX-5 Length 4,555mm Width 1,840mm Height 1,710mm

which is only 80mm longer

I reallly wanted a torque convertor type transmission and the idea of DCT on the Tucson was definitely a stumbling block. Perhaps a test drive might have changed my view, I will never know.

What makes me consider the Tucson is I had one hired out to me by Enterprise via my dealer for over a week (they covered the hire) while my then CX-3 was out of action . Going by the basic alloys I would say It was a base model diesel auto. Apart from the diesel side of it, which I must admit performed really well, but was a bit smelly at times, I was impressed. The auto box was as smooth as silk and the cabin was very spacious and well equipped. Unfortunately I only got to drive it a couple of times on short journeys as the day they delivered it to the house I went down with the flu. Typical

It’s possibly the cleanest car on cold start due to that revving. It gets the cat up to temperature very quick.
