Metal tyre valve caps....

Quite a while ago, I bought a set of metal tyres valve caps with a Mazda logo on them.

it has been several weeks since I checked the car pressure,as the car hasn’t been used.

well, the metal cpas have seized themselves onto the metal valve stems and no amount of twisting and turning is getting them off. I’ve tried spraying with WD40 and the like but nothing is budging.

Looks like a trip to the local tyre dealer for new valves...

note to self - use some form of anti seize compound and remove the caps regularly...my own fault really.

You're not the only one Greenman, lots of similar stories on the Internet. You could try heating them up if you've got a hot air gun or blowtorch - see https://youtu.be/7DTXOLZULVc

If they're damaged getting them off, I'd be inclined to go back to using boring black plastic ones ;)

Probably why plastic ones were invented. If ain't broke don't fix it. But if you want to use metal ones try wiping a bit of copper slip around the thread of the valve. That should stop it seizing up.

Most after market valve caps are made of alloy, unless specialist valve stems are brass, never use a alloy nut on brass the two dissimilar metals will create corrosion very quickly under certain conditions.

I used those three coloured valve caps which warned of a slow puncture for years without a problem but made sure they were brass.

If you still want fancy valve caps, and why not just make sure they are brass and use a little copper slip as Monty said to be on the safe side.
