Seems their 16 hour delivery period from Crick, Northants, to your local dealer - or 2 more days if the part isn't held at Crick and has to be shipped from Willebroek in Belgium - is failing badly :(

Hope it does sort out the problem. Be useful to know what was the defective part in case other owners encounter this rare situation.

Hi all
got my car back today! working fine, the part was the rear body control module!

Positioned at the rear of the vehicle, the rear body control module (RBCM) performs numerous system controls for functions at the vehicle rear.
Function

The rear body control module (RBCM) controls the system based on the input/output signals.
The functions which are controlled are as follows:

Room light control system control
The rear body control module (RBCM) changes the illumination condition and illumination level of the interior lights (door position) according to whether the doors are opened/closed and locked/unlocked.

Back-up light control
The back-up light illuminates in conjunction with the shift operation.

Power door lock system control
A power door lock system has been adopted in which all doors and the liftgate are locked/unlocked when the driver's door is locked/unlocked using the driver's door lock knob, or the door key cylinder is operated.

Rear wiper system control
Equipped with continuous, auto-stop, intermittent wiper, and synchronized washer and wiper operation.

Liftgate opener system control
A liftgate opener system has been adopted in which the liftgate can be opened just by pressing the liftgate opener switch.

Theft-deterrent system
The theft-deterrent system operates the theft-deterrent horn and hazard warning lights if a door, liftgate or the hood is improperly opened.

CAN (Controller Area Network)
Sends and receives signals between CAN system-related modules using the CAN system.

On-board diagnostic system
The rear body control module (RBCM) is equipped with an on-board diagnosis function which records DTCs in the event of a malfunction.

Thank you all for you help!
looking forward to many trouble free miles :)
garry.

That's great news garry. Glad to hear it's all sorted. If the rear body control module covers all that, I'd hate to know what the front, left side, right side, bottom and top body control modules - if there are such things - cover  ;) Local garages must have fun and games in the future trying to fix electrics problems on cars.
