I noticed last week that the genuine Mazda locking wheel nuts are 17mm, the remaining 4 wheel nuts are 19mm along with the 19mm wheel brace, making it impossible to get the locking wheel nut off.
I rang the dealer and asked should have I been supplied with a 19mm to 17mm reducer and he told me no, he has ordered loads of them for other customers and ordered me FOC a 17mm brace and went on to say Mazda has been playing around with locking 17mm and 19mm nut size. He had reported it months age many times to Mazda and was told they were going to look into it.
I rang Mazda Tech and was told they had no reports of this problem before and they would look into and ring me back....... I'm still waiting, good job I'm not on the hard shoulder putting my life at risk.
NEED TO DO A QUICK CHECK NEXT TIME YOUR IN YOUR CAR
17mm locking Wheel Nut - 19mm Wheel Nut And Brace
I am of the generation who would not leave home without the reassurance of a spare wheel.
The space saver kit came with a special socket which attaches to the wheel brace and fits the locking wheel nut.

I was told never to change my tyre on the hard shoulder, that's what breakdown cover is for. I'm sure the AA man (or whoever you are covered with) has got the correct wheel braces.

I too am from that generation, but after 53 years of driving and only one puncture I decided a spare wheel wasn't necessary and a puncture repair kit would be OK. Would you believe it, one year after buying my last CX-3 I had a puncture. Fortunately it was in my driveway so I called out a company to come and replace the tyre. So now it's two punctures in 55 years. I'm 71 next week so the odds are that I won't get another one before I give up driving. If I do, then I'm sure the breakdown man will look after me

What year is your CX-3?
What does the socket look like?
I'm Not disbelieving what you are saying, I don't trust dealers as for as I could throw them. My dealer is adamant that no such socket exists and has ordered me a 17mm brace I asked him for an adaptor as you have but not possible he tells me.

My CX-3 is 2016, and if someone could tell me how to post pictures on this forum I would post some of the adaptor.Turbo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 03, 2019 7:10 pmWhat year is your CX-3?

My 2015 CX-3 has 21mm wheel nuts inc. locking nut with a 21mm key.
Turbo, are you sure your locking wheel nut key is smaller than your normal wheel nuts and its not just that all your nuts are 17mm but you've got a 21mm brace by mistake?
Mazda do 17mm and 21mm locking wheel nut & key accessory sets for the CX-3. See here:-
