From engine start up--noticed that the info screen was frozen on the coms logo( no radio)--and nothing normal would shift it. Pulled over and switched off engine-got out of vehicle-locked it and waited 3 mins.
Started up again-info screen still frozen--so decided to travel on and see what happened. Sure enough about five minutes later the frozen coms logo merged into the standard Mazda logo-then flicked back to the coms logo.At the same time the radio returned and the screen became fully operational. All fine since---phew!

Had a brainwave--did I experience a software update by any chance? If not-what....and has anyone any tips for dislodging an utterly frozen info screen should it happen again?

Thanks

It doesn't do Over The Air updates so that wouldn't be the cause. If the screen freezes in the future, try holding down the back, nav and volume mute keys (around the commander wheel) together for about 10 seconds until the system reboots.
