I've had my CX3 for nearly two years but only just got around to trying out the aux key. When I turn it to open the door unlocks but the alarm sounds. this can't be correct surely!! The dash key fob warning light is not on and the indicator on the fob operates as does the fob. Anybody have an idea please.

That's how it's designed to work.

From the Owner's Manual: "...The siren/horn sounds intermittently and the hazard warning lights flash for about 30 seconds when the system is triggered by any one of the following: Unlocking a door with the auxiliary key or an inside door-lock knob..."

and

"...A triggered alarm can be turned off using any one of the following methods: Pressing the unlock button on the transmitter. Starting the engine with the push button start. With the advanced keyless function, pressing a request switch on the doors. Pressing the electric liftgate opener while the key is being carried..."

Thanks for your reply but I cant find that piece of info in my handbook. On page 3.11 it mentions inside door lock knob but not the aux key. I've fairly scoured the book but can't seem to find mention of the aux key triggering the siren.
Sorry to be a pain but where is it in your manual please?
Thanks.

It might not be in your manual. There have been different iterations over the years & may have been something they neglected to put in early editions.

In the 2017 Owner's Manual (8FUZ) downloadable from the Mazda UK Website it's on page 3-47 in the 'Before Driving - Security System' section.

The alarm will go off if you open the door with the auxiliary key, but as you only need to do that if the battery in the fob dies, it's not really an issue ;)

Thanks for that. I wasn't too bothered but wondered if it was a sign of some other problem in the system. My car is a 2017 model, two years from purchase next month. Handbook is 8EY1.
I had a look on the web site and as you say in the manual available there it does say the siren will sound.
Thanks anyway.
