My car is at my local Mazda dealer with the same symptoms. I've been told this afternoon that they have followed a TSB and have identified that it requires a new diesel fuel filter housing which incorporates a fuel warming device.

£515.70 for the repair inc. labour. A claim has been raised under my Mazda Extended Warranty policy and I should hear back in the morning, but don't foresee any issues. Hopefully it's in stock in the U.K.

JT, sorry to hear this, you mention the new fuel filter has a fuel warmer included, is this different to your original? If so, then surely Mazda have found fault with original fitment and it should be changed foc if and when the fault appears on a customers car? Irrespective of any extended warranty.

The original housing includes a fuel warmer too. As I understand it, the TSB states that a modified fuel filter housing (don't know how it's modified, although it does come with some sort of pad) is only fitted FOC if and when particular symptoms arise, and only during the manufacturer's initial warranty period.

Mazda Extended Warranty have refused the claim because it's down to a design fault requiring a modified part and not a component failure. I have therefore requested that the dealer raises a request for a goodwill payment from Mazda UK and have advised Customer Relations to expect contact from them.

I await the outcome.

Mazda UK have agreed to pay the full cost of removal & replacement of fuel filter & housing. In stock in the UK so should all be sorted by the end of the week. Fingers crossed.

That's a relief! A few worrisome hours spent today!

Does anyone know the part number for the modified housing? My car is suffering the same issues and it only happens when the temperature drops to below freezing
