Hi CX3 ers,

What is the tyre of choice at the moment, 215/50 r18 Sport Nav 150 bhp 4 x 4.

Toyo proxes R4O currently with 3 mm of tread, looking to replace soon,I had understeer the other day plus front wheel skid on heavy braking.

I was intererested in the Michelin cross climate however £274 a corner was abit steep! The Falken AZENIS FK453CC
215/50 R18 92W has 67 db,has anyone used these?

I was going to switch to the Falken AZENIS FK-453CC but instead bought Pirelli Sottozero 3 winter tyres in Dec 2018, and then kept them on all year.

I am using and have been so since we bought the car in May 2018 Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S @ £125 per corner I had them rotated in August this year - they are a winter tyre as opposed to all season - their tolerance is up to 32C though I used them at 44C this summer in Europe with no side effects, they handle well at speed and I had the opportunity in Germany to test them and the wife at 180+ Kph - the tyres fared better..

They are superb in rain - peeps forget that this is one thing this country chucks at us all. I have done 22k on them.

I've got the Falkens on. In summary the things I've noticed:
    Less road noise
Wider side wall that gives better alloy protection
Seems to wear quicker (55k on the toyos, 30k predicted at the moment on Falkens but will have a better idea at the next service).

I also have Toyo tyres fitted all round with about 3mm on front. They didn’t feel safe in current wet weather. I’m not knocking the Toyos as I think the 1.6 mm limit is too low for safety.
One rear tyre has uneven wear on inside, which I think is increasing noise levels. Falkens on order, good to hear that they’re quieter.

I happen to run winter Falkens on my Fiat Panda. Very quiet and amazing grip in the wet. The various tyre tests suggest that they're not great in snow but I'm more interested in cold, wet, conditions at which they excel. My tyre fitter even suggested running them all year round. Downside is a 10% hit on mpg due to that sticky rubber.

Has anyone looked at an alternative tyre size for the OE 18 inch wheels? I seem to remember a thread that explored this but can't find it.
I googled the subject and it seems a 235/45 r18 is a suitable replacement vs the standard 215/50 r18. If so, their is a far greater choice of tyres available at significantly lower prices.

I’d be interested to know how much harder the ride is on 235/45 r18s

I forgot about that one... :)
I was going to switch size, but it turned out that I could get 215/50-18 Michelin Premacy 3 a bit cheaper, so I stayed with the original size.
For winter tires I use Michelin Alpin 6 215/60-16.
