Sat Nav Favourites - Voice Commands

Hi all,

I might be being a little silly here, but I would have thought that if I renamed one of the destinations favourites in the sat-nav, I would be able to use the voice commands to automatically select it. IE, renaming a favourite to "work". When I've tried saying "Navigate to work", it just says it not a valid command :?

Only a few months :p But I do know the way, it's just handy for the sat nav to give me the best route to avoid traffic. There are about 15 different ways I can go, and every day the quickest one changes >_< The work thing was just an example as well. I have a few different places I'd want to set up in a similar matter too :)

A real long shot - is your Infotainment screen showing the Navigation app when you issue that command?

If not already in Navigation, then I guess there's some confusion with just using the "navigate to work" command and it might work (excuse the pun) when you've first either pressed the Nav key on the central tunnel or have issued the "Get Navigation" command.

If you are in Navigation, then you could try "navigate to favourite work" or even "take me to work" voice commands to see if they are accepted.

Failing all the above, and no other member solutions here, I'd suggest contacting the Mazda Connect / Infotainment team via the web page :-

Hi Steve,

Thanks for coming back to me.

I was on the nav screen, but I'll give the different voice lines a try in the morning and see if they work :) Here's hoping :D

Forget the Mazda offerings; use Adroid Auto, (or Car Play, if you must), and all your troubles are over. Voice control and no map subscriptions and pesky updates needed.

A number of problems with this solution...if you go down the official route it is £350 for Android Auto, then you have an ugly trailing wire from your phone and the worst for me is you lose the heads up display BUT i do agree it is better for navigation as i prefer Waze and a route i may have to go down when my vehicle is 3 years old unless i change vehicles.

Have you tried just saying "work"?

A brodit clip mount for the phone puts it to the side of the display so the USB lead doesn't 'trail'. And AA 1.12 from mazdatweaks.com gives you head-up display navigation and distance to intersection countdown. AND IT IS FREE. All so long as you haven't updated the CMU beyond and including 59.00.502

If the lead really bugs you the AA 1.12 version works wirelessly with Android Auto on the phone - something the official version doesn't. But you need to wirelessly connect manually each time.

As an aside: since Google bought Waze, the Waze information informs Google maps. So when navigating, if a quicker route becomes available, you are asked if you want to take the option.

..if your chosen destinations are in your favorites .. press the speak button and say 'favorites'..
..it will list your favorites..
..the system then tells you this feature can not be used, suggesting you use the scroll\ wheel to select your destination..
..which you can then do..

..why it will not let you select a line number as it does in other sections I have no idea..
