Kind of defeats the point of having an integrated nav system if I'm then mounting a phone to navigate :s I'm actually building a custom wireless charge that will fit in the cubby where the USB ports are. I'll just be placing my phone on that and letting the car do the rest.

I have tried the AIO android auto, it was awful. Lagged and crashed all the time, hence why I want to stick with the native stuff.

I've tried the different voice commands and none of them have worked. The best one is the suggest to say "favourites" and then select from there. But TBH I've find it easier to use the command knob and select that way then the voice commands :p

Upgrade your phone and/or upgrade AIO. It is pretty rock solid these days. Wireless is flaky tho'

Wireless will always be poor not because of external equipment but because the low spec. processor in the CMU supplied by Mazda.
Mazda AA doesn't implement wireless; probably for the reason of its underpowered processor.

You can make Wireless work though, it generally settles down after a few moments, but background CMU activity will reduce the processor for AA whenever it needs. You can reduce the internal processor load, that is - free up some processor - by springing the Mazda map card out. Music playback via Google Music worked OK but if you wanted to Navigate as well then their were occasional squabbles for use of processing causing stutters in music playback.

I found Wireless to be too much of a faff. Mazda needed to be manually connected to the phone hotspot each time of use. There was no way Tasker could be configured to do it automatically on the phone as it was a Mazda CMU issue. For me is was quicker to plug the phone in. If you were to get a Brodit Active Mount, it would then be a case of just slipping your phone in the mount. Trailing leads don't have to 'trail'. Specialist installers could route a USB lead to anywhere pretty much out of sight. The Brodit mount could be in the foot well - say.

Got there in the end.. I have never used the voice command thing but did decide to try after this posting.. so to navigate to your "work" or whatever in your "favorites"

.. from the home screen on Inf screen press the navigate button on the consul to bring up the map..
.. press the talk button & after the beep say 'favorites'..
.. all your saved destinations will be listed with a number next to them..
..say the number 'X'

Yea I found that going via the favourites is the best route. I'm surprised "common favourites" like work haven't been programmed into it, just like how "home" is.

The car's actually back with the dealer at the moment as I'm having a weird issue with the Tachnometer display freezing and flickering on / off, but when it's back I'll play around with it some more :)
