I am hoping for a view on the pictures attached.
This does appear to be an unacceptable level of rust.
Car registered March 2018 and has less than 7000 miles. Car is parked in driveway as a rule and not exposed to salty conditions.
I am contacting Mazda about this as well but wondered on others opinions and experience.
Thank you
rust on underbody
Not acceptable to me...i know you get surface rust but mine is coming up for three years old and is nowhere near that bad.

That's about par for the course. I had mine waxoyled last year at 4 years old. My, then, dealer had started showing videos of the safety inspection and the underside looked a mess. I live in a coastal region but frequently underbody wash with a jet washer.
Mazda paint is crap! Mazda should be ashamed of themselves!.
Not saying it's ok it looks like that, in fact I think it's far to early for that much rust, but that's one of the reasons I (and many others here in Denmark) rustproof the underbody when we buy new cars.
I had mine done when I bought it nearly 5 years ago and it's has no rust on the underbody.
It was inspected during the cars first government inspection last year and I also got a video from my last service (last month) at my local Mazda dealer, showing the whole underbody as the mechaninc panned over it and explained what he saw.
Here the price for rustproofing the underbody is about 4,500DKK (about £550), which is a small price for protecting against rust.
Here's an example from the video I got (sorry for the small picture size and poor quality - but you should be able to the difference):

Thank you - I am going the rustproofing direction regardless but think Mazda should take some responsibility for this.
I agree, BIG difference!
On viewing the inspection video from Mazda at last service it does appear to ski from point to point, not lingering over bodywork just suspension. An unfortunate omission!

I took mine to a small independent as recommended by the mechanic at Hendy Mazda! Cost a bit over £100 from memory. It is not a difficult process and doesn't take long.

Modern cars whilst well protected chassis and body they are not protected re the suspension as the photos showes. My Mazda CX-3 when i bought it new I sprayed all the suspension and exhaust to protect it against the raveges of the English climate, and it has certainly help to preserve the car in excellent condition both on top and underneath, see the attached photos.
