It shouldn't do, and doesn't on mine. Perhaps it's a bug. What version of OS have you got installed?

Are you sure it is off, what does it say (tip) when you select TA with the commander?

I discovered by trial and error that "on" and "off" are reversed for traffic announcements. Now I have finally shut these unwelcome intrusions up.

Someone in an earlier post described this ludicrous system as "reverse logic". There is nothing logical about it. It has been my experience that complicated solutions to simple problems are typical of Mazda, for example that stupid rotary "command" control inconveniently located out of sight and reach.

I disagree. They are Tooltips and tell you, when you hover over it, what will happen should you click on the button, not what its current state is.
A button's on/off state is shown by the inclusion or absence of a red glow around the logo.
