Air Con fail and fix

Well the saga with my air con continues - another trip to the dealers and back again - I'm no closer to getting my air con back ...and it's August.
I'm going to have to put my hand in my pocket now, it's the only way I can see me sorting it, it is warranty work and should be fixed free, but hey this is Mazda.
So I'm thinking I need to go elsewhere. Does anyone know if it's possible an independent company can re-gas the compressor on a CX-3, and how much would it cost? How long would it take?

I'd go back to the dealer, park my car across his entrance and refuse to move until they pulled their fingers out!

Have you got another localish dealer you can try to get to solve the problem? The problem must surely be more than a simple re-gas operation?

Had the same issue recently with a defective ac on my 8 month old CX-3.

The Mazda service dealer I used to get it checked was not the one I bought the car from but after an inspection they found a leak on the condenser unit and told me it needed a replacement. After waiting 4 weeks for the part to arrive I then contacted Mazda UK direct (luckily they are fairly local to me) to complain and within a week the dealer was back on again with the new part.

Happy to say all is now well again - apparently if you shout loud enough to the right people then things get done. I certainly would not use a 3rd party to check / work on your ac as this may affect your Mazda warranty going forward .

You can easily find the complaints section on Mazda UK web site.

Good luck

Thanks for the replies folks.

I'm going to take that advice and ring around some other Mazda dealers to see if they can fix it so it all stays within warranty.

Yesterday was the hottest day of the year here and after 6 weeks with no a/c it was the last straw! I may even put in a complaint to Mazda, in the interests of customer service I think they ought to know how their dealers treat their customers - seems some just want to sell you a car after that you're second best.

The service guys working on your car need to recharge your ac again with a dye which when used with a uv light show where the leak(s) are coming from. As long as there is no ac component failure it can only therefore then be a leak. It ain't rocket science for them to fix it.

The dealer I used found it in 10 mins of looking and said it is the same problem they have had on a couple of Mazda 2 ac systems recently.

Ask the service manager to contact Mazda tech services as they are aware of this issue and the back log on replacement condensers on order within the UK.

Thanks Kiwi. The dealer rang me back today. It's a continuing problem with their gassing 'machine' (?). I rang around and turns out a lot of Mazda dealers don't have the right coolant/apparatus as it's the new 1234Gas for the new cars so I'm stuck with using my dealer after all - it's just that their machine doesn't work!

My a/c failure was all caused by the compressor breaking down. There are no leaks as tested but they had to empty the system to change the compressor over. Should be a simple case of filling it up again and I'm good to go. Whenever that happens!! ...hot today wasn't it!!

Don't know where you are Deep Blue but there are numerous air con specialists around the country, a lot of the dealers use these specialists when it gets to be more than a refill, I would try and push them to call one in or if you want it sorted quick give one a call, it may cost but it shouldn't be mega bucks for a re-gas.
