Thanks Gus, I did mention that to the dealer - using a third party - they thought that would lead to warranty issues.

I have today rang Mazda and made a complaint. They have sorted me with a hire car for my Bank Holiday trip. Mazda wanted me to keep the fix within the dealer group, unfortunately the next dealer in their group with a working machine is a three hour round trip! They said they could get somone to drive my car there, no problem, they said, 'no way!' I said! They then offered to have a transporter pick the car up and take it there! I put that on hold. It's all getting a bit silly!

Your suggestion is by far the best - get a portable call out specialist - but we were back to the warranty issue. The garage already use a third party contractor but they are obviously approved by Mazda, signed and sealed.

Anyway, now I've got the hire car I can leave the sweat-box behind this w/e and forget about it. I won't be using my car much next week so I'm going to let it roll on - maybe by then they have got it fixed.

So the CX-3 went in for its first service today and I made a comment the A/C seemed rather weak compared to my old car and it struggled when the daytime temps were in the 30's, I expected a "what do you expect when it is that hot" comment, but instead I have just had a phone call and they said that they have just had a bulletin from Mazda which explains that they have had a dodgy batch of condensers and could they book it in to replace it, naturally at no cost to you sir....... Result :)

Gus - Following up your previous post - I got a mobile specialist to quote me yesterday for re-gassing the car and it would be a minimum of £300.00, max £350.00. No wonder the dealer won't go that route! The specialist said it was that pricey because of the 'special' coolant due to new regs and it costs a lot. :o

Anyway, needless to say my aircon is still no closer to being fixed. I was away this weekend and Mazda sorted me a hire car (Mini Countryman) after I complained to them. I am waiting to hear back from my dealers manager today... I won't hold my breath. At least the weather is cooling a bit, although over the weekend it sizzled - I was stuck near the Dartford Tunnel in a jam in the heat and I was sure glad of the aircon, I could have boiled an egg on the bonnet!

Ouch that's expensive, mine goes in tomorrow for the condensor replacement, will be interesting to see the difference.

Out of curiosity does anyone know what temp the air should be coming out the vents when on max cooling?

Mine was 12 degrees on max cold, over the course of 40 miles it just about got down to 25 in the cabin, given it was indicating 25 outside I should have just wound down the windows :)

Hey Anchorman are you about the next week or two as I might well be in your area, might be gagging for a good brew?

They know about my wee cough JT, they told me to take it. It either means they think I’ve done quite enough or they are sick of me!!!

Gus. I’ve attached some pdfs on the heater. Note that only the diesels have the PTC heater which is an electric heater to compensate for the long warm up times. The heater and A/C in my CX-3 was absolutely first class. The CX-5 is excellent too.

well the forum seems a bit quiet at the moment so thought I would update my thread re the no-aircon situation...

The saga continues. This time I escalated the problem and I got in touch with the dealer manager and he took my case over. Several days later he called me to say the gassing machine was now fixed and come in at my convenience, Great! Earlier the better I thought so I was up at 7.00am this morning and got to the dealers about 7.30. The car went in and I dreamed of cool air and no-foggy steamed up windows!

I was there three hours when they told me the machine wasn't working ...again!

This was my 4th time there, again I had to leave with no aircon and another wasted journey!

I've had enough, the damned aircon has been out of action since the middle of July.

I complained again to Mazda HQ who were obviously embarassed and have placed me with another dealer.

I've asked Mazda for some sort of compensation as the whole thing is really getting me down now - it's another hot day today - and so much wasted time, fuel and empty promises. Mazda have said I could get 'a voucher' - but they didn't say what exactly that means. Let's see.

I'm seriously thinking of selling this car when, if ever, I get the air-con fixed. This has to be without doubt the worst experience I have ever had with any car I have ever owned. The car seems plagued with too many niggly things and the dealer service/care is poor. :(
