18 months ago A few weeks after collecting our car , some tw4t in a hired Merc over took us while in queuing traffic, and took our wing mirror off... I called ' call Mazda first'. They sorted everything out, All repair work was carried out and guaranteed through Mazda we didn't pay a penny excess and all I had to do was 'inform' my insurance. I didn't go against my NCD...
A good service all round....

Does make me wonder whether to just go for the cheapest insurance and rely on 'Mazda First' for any claims?... They sorted us with no quibble - But I wonder if at any time the 'other' insurance company involved have ever refused to pay their (quite possibly) inflated costs?

the only way you know if your insurance company are any good is when you need them ..... in the past i have had dealings with a few big names and the customer service has been terrible...the one with the big red phone were awful.. i ended up selling the car as the repair was a bodge and the agents just not interested..

I agree that using their claims management company would be expensive to the other party’s insurer - in my case they gave me a LR Discovery Sport which I hadn’t asked for and was then queried by the other party’s insurer. They did a sterling job on the repair though.

It is precisely to avoid the possibility of a bodged accident repair that I insure with Mazda. They guarantee that repairs are carried out at a Mazda approved body shop by Mazda trained technicians using only genuine Mazda parts. Cheaper insurers sometimes fit inferior replica parts or even recycled parts from write-offs.

That's exactly what the 'Mazda First' is for - a Mazda approved repair shop using original parts irrespective of who you are insured with (Mazda trained tech's - Doubt it though, only a Mazda repair shop would have those on hand all the time I'd think? and in this day and age not cost effective) - I still can't really get my head around this though :? Why would the 'other' insurer agree to their prices if it's overpriced, I too had an LD Dicovery Sport (not asked for - only an equivalent sized SUV required) at a cost of £175.67 + £10 (additional driver) + £12 (auto - not asked for) PER DAY, PLUS a £90 delivery and £90 pick up..... for 13 days, which cost more than the holiday we had already booked for the four of us!.... A week after we came back, swapped back to our CX-3 I had a text from other guy's insurance offering a CX-3 for £19 per day that (of course) they would pay for - yes, a bit late, but a heck of a lot cheaper! - Why would the other company NOT question it???? I've still got all the paperwork to hand awaiting a letter from the other insurers refusing to pay.

AND I don't know if this is regarded as a 'claim' for future insurance quotes as I certainly didn't claim anything from MY insurers??? :? :? :?

Hi Andy,

I used Mazda First when somebody damaged my car and I received this letter from the other parties insurers. A bit intimidating I thought. I sent it to Mazda First and didn't reply to it. I never heard any more from them directly, but I did get calls from dozens of claims companies for two years after.

I didn't use Mazda First when I had a claim, I just dealt direct with my insurer.
For those that have had a car provided by Mazda First, did you sign a hire agreement for it? If so, then, as I understand it, you could be liable for the hire costs if the other insurer refuses to pay later on.

No I didn't sign a hire agreement, just a form to say I received it in one piece.
