I thought I'd try Adrian Flux for my renewal yesterday... This quote was more expensive than my existing company! They suggested on the phone that they put me through to another company. I had to give all my details again. This quote was £440, so this company then also transferred me. Again I had to give all my details again (x3 times). This quote was £650. And I was told that although I wanted business cover for both my wife and I, I was told that the business cover was only in relation to MY business, and not my wife's!!! so my wife could only use the car for business use if she was doing my job???!!! Really?!
I then contacted Direct Line. I got the cover I wanted with no voluntary access for £322. Business cover, 10K miles per/yr.
Vehicle garaged overnight. 53 years old. University Lecturer, no convictions, no accidents, 11 years NCD. Wife GP (NHS). Same age, same (clean) history and Adrian Flux/their contacts quote me £650....... apparently the reason why the price is high is "because I've only had the vehicle 3 months so I'm high risk". (I also ride a BMW R1200GS motorbike- which costs me £180 a year for insurance... High risk eh??)

I was also not impressed with them, also tried another broker, but none could beat my exiting insurer LV.

Wouldn’t it be great if insurance companies gave you 50% of your premiums back at the end of the year if you don’t make a claim?! (Assuming you have full NCD).

With a slightly more serious tone; the days of the broker are really over. Now everything is online we can each do what a broker does and hunt around for the cheapest deal with the cover we need. A broker, by definition is a re-seller and has to pile their fee on top of the cost of the insurance.

A bit like travel brokers, I fail to see how they continue to exist.

I want the best cover, not the cheapest.
My CX-3 is insured with LV through Mazda, so that in the event of a claim I only have to deal with Mazda.
For my classic car insurance I use a specialist broker.
