Newbie can anybody help

Hi everyone
just picked up my cx-3 sport nav awd auto soul red 2018 model only done 68 miles the question is parked up locked car come to use car next day fobs opened vehicle placed fobs in car pressed start button car would not start but i noticed that the security indicator light in the instrument cluster is still flashing, has anybody else had this problem please help thank you

Welcome to the forums.

That normally indicates the key is out of range. Where are you placing the fob in the car when you get in? Page 3-8 of the Owner's Manual states "The engine may not start if the key is placed in the following areas: - Around the instrument panel. - In the storage compartments such as the glove compartment or the centre console." I keep the fob in my jacket or trouser pocket.

Also worth checking that the spare key isn't in the car somewhere confusing things, although if a key is accidentally left in the car its functions should automatically become suspended to deter theft.

Thanks for getting back to me I always place the key fob in the cup holder I’ve even held the key to the start button still nothing

Could be something as simple as a flat battery in the fob??
It *may* have been brand new out of the packet but I've had the occasional cell faulty.

Thank you for your response have tried both key fobs and put each one against stop/start button with no change
