Hi All,
Brand new to the forum so please be gentle
I’m looking at a 15 plate SE L Nav diesel. My query is the road tax.......
It is £20, however with the new and complicated road tax charges in place I’m wondering what this would cost me in a 3 year period on PCP. What I don’t want is a massive uplift in road tax without prior notice....
Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
New Purchase

Hi Steve and welcome to the forum.
I don't think anything has been finalised yet regarding future tax, but I did read that from 2020, new pollution taxes will also be levied on diesel drivers who use congested highways - specifically targeting busy roads in major towns and cities, as well as motorways such as the M4 and M32.
I used to drive diesels, but decided it was time to revert to petrol.

The problem is that the Diesel resale value will plummet when they bring in the pollution tax. So you need to offset that against the running costs when making a comparison. I use mine mainly to commute to work which is a 20 mile round trip, fuel consumption is around 40-42 mpg, but I have had up to 52 mpg on longer runs.

Not sure what you mean by a tad to much. If it is the 2 litre engine you can drive it as gently as you wish.
As mentioned above the mph is quite good.... and easier to sell in the future (probably)
Car sold - but still following Mazda.
