Yeah, I had everything ready just in case I liked the car ;-)

I rang my insurer from the showroom & got that sorted and did the Tax online from the salesman's PC.

It took time to do the test drive and all the dealer's paperwork etc though, so it meant I left later in the day than planned.

A 3 hour drive back home; auto box very smooth.

I did my deal and drove away in it same day.

JT you would have got 7 days free insurance from Mazda if required. I got tax thrown into the deal too without even asking, although at £20 it's not such a hardship I suppose!

I was strongly advised to take their temporary insurance, but declined as it was an easy job to get my existing insurers to swap cover over to the new car with immediate effect for the remainder of my policy term.

£20 for Vehicle Tax? - mine was £130 for the year. Set up a DD and DVLA are not going to take it for a couple of weeks. Don't think I could of squeezed any more out of the dealer to be honest.

Today, I had an email reply from Mazda Customer Information Centre. I've posted the list below in case it's of use to any forum members.
Unfortunately, four of the entries are for the same dealer, and there are no contact details.

I live in Bristol but found the Bristol dealer not very helpful. They did not have a diesel demonstrator but were willing to get one from their dealership in Cheltenham with 48 hours notice. I couldn't even test drive a petrol version as the salesman who had it was on holiday for 2 weeks! I test drove one in Clevedon in the end, they could not have been more helpful. In the end I bought the car from Cardiff, again they were very helpful and had a good range of cars available.

When purchasing a vehicle there are some thoughts .

Is the vehicle what you need in say 5 years from now ?
Is there a demand for the type vehicle you choose ?
what is the re sale value ?
