At around 9300 miles, the wrench has lit up (cx3 1.5D) and it appears from the maintenance screen, I need an oil change. I could do this myself or take it to the local garage whom I trust and will probably be a whole lot cheaper than the dealer. My question is though, as there is no service book to stamp, can I, or the independents update the online service history?

The service history of all new Mazda models since 2006 is held on a central system called DSR (Digital Service Record), accessible through the internet.

The vehicle owner can't update the DSR system. If your chosen Independent Operator is already registered and approved, or completes the registration process via the Mazda Portal, they will be able to access the system. They can then update the vehicle's history following the completion of every scheduled service, extended service item, and body inspection, in the same way a Mazda dealership would.

Note that it's very important to use the correct Mazda specification of oil in the SKYACTIV-D engines (see Specifications section at the back of your Owner's Manual).

I did my own oil change then negotiated a decent discount on the service st the dealer. Think on that the oil service data must be reset after changing the oil.
