Before Greenman posted this I thought it was probably just me, I dont normally look at the manual but I have had mine next to my arm chair for the last three weeks then I can look things up when I need to, and I have had to go to it a fair few times, even then the book doesn't always help. This is something I have not had to do for years with previous cars, the last one from VW had similar levels of complexity and yet the control and system functions seemed to be more logical and simple.
For example it took me a while to work out what the second tailgate rubber button did and even then it was not in the manual but from reading something online.
The functionality of the auto dip headlights was puzzling but I think I have mastered it now. Even simple things like the boot light having an on off switch, could I just leave it set to 'on' all the time like it is in other cars!
I could go on, getting a CD into the player needed a look online, needs to go in at an angle.
I still love it though and certainly compared to a VW Golf which just did things, the Mazda makes you think which adds to its character.

As soon as I had collected the car I read the manual, until I lost the will to live.
Being a "one size fits all" manual it can be tedious leafing through all the pages of techno-babble which do not apply to my model, as I discovered when trying to change the clock setting at the end of British Summer Time.

It's the tailgate request switch that locks all the doors and the tailgate when you press it with the tailgate down. On models with Advanced Keyless Entry and walk away locking it's pretty redundant though; I've never used it.
