Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what the point is of having the words "Passenger Airbag" always illuminated in the central display. It's meaningless. There are symbols to tell you if it is on or off. I just don't see the point of the words showing.
Pointless Information ?

Car sold - but still following Mazda.
Ha, I said the same after I bought my car.
One of these days I might remove that panel and disconnect the light.
The other one that irritates, is the 'LDWS off' light on the instrument cluster

The Passenger Airbag sign probably helps to make parents aware that it is active especially when they have travel cots in the front seat. Rear facing ones shouldn't be place in the front seat with an active airbag (at least I think it's that way round).Whilst I don't think babies or young children should be in the front seat I don't know the legality of it.

I have now; and it's not going to happen.
You are supposed to remove the following parts:
Center console tray,
Shift bezel,
Upper panel,
Selector lever knob,
Shift panel,
Console side panel,
Front console box,
CD player,
Front console,
Side wall,
Rear console,
Glove compartment,
Center panel,
Front scuff plate (RH),
Front side trim (RH),
Bonnet release lever,
Fuel-filler lid opener lever,
Driver-side lower panel,
Center lower panel.
Then remove the three screws that attach the Indicator unit, which looks to be a sealed unit with the illuminating LED's inside.
