Hi, I’ve had my CX3 sportnav, for 2 years now.
I’ve had intermittent problems with the infotainment
System not playing DAB radio when I start the car.
Mazda have updated the system twice now but the problem still exists. The auto electrician at the Mazda dealer has no idea what causes this.
I’m getting annoyed now as it’s happening 3-4 times a week. You can correct it by turning the engine off and re-starting but obviously I’d prefer not to have to do that. I can still use the phone and sat nav even ‘though I’ve no DAB radio. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?

It sounds to me like you may have a low DAB signal and something is causing interference that cuts it out completely. Dash cams are a common problem for this. It could also be an external source that is causing the interference.

You can check your local reception by entering your post code on this link http://www.ukdigitalradio.com/coverage/postcodesearch/
If it is a weak signal it can be affected by outside interference like power cables or even your mobile phone.
I have a number of areas near me where DAB often cuts out.

I have a cheap and cheerful dashcam fitted, £30 from Lidl, but it does not affect the DAB radio reception in any way.
My problem with the infotainment system is the traffic announcements. Nothing, but nothing, I do will stop them. I turn them off on the touch screen and on the centre console control button, but still they come and at maximum volume. I know about the red background on the touch screen which should disappear, but it never does. I would not mind so much if the announcements were relevant to where I happened to be driving, but I even get them from Radio Wales!
When the next service is due I will be raising the matter with the dealer.

I’ve no dashcam and I’ve checked the quality of the DAB signal and it’s good or better for the channels I listen to in my area...so it still doesn’t make any sense to me. The dealer suggested coming in when it does that- unfortunately for me I’m usually only way to work so can’t just pop in!

I have tried this many times, confirming that the screen shows "TA Off", but still the unwanted announcements come.
Either I or the car are doing something wrong, and I suspect that it is the car.
