Hi all, I have a 2017 cx3 gt sport. Are the wheels alloy or diamond cut, not sure what the difference is but in any case any suggestions re cleaning them. EG autoglym wheel cleaner or just soap and water. Thanks

Try this to clean the wheels. Then wash and rinse. Dry and apply Poorboy's wheel wax..

can also use this to help get inside the rim...

Hope this helps..

The wheels are alloy and diamond cut. 'Diamond cut' refers to the process whereby the surface of the alloy wheel is machined off in certain parts to produce a shiny silver area which is then lacquered over (in an attempt) to prevent corrosion.

In my experience, I've only found it necessary to use soap and water to clean the wheels. Once washed, a coat of car wax will help brake dust and road grime wash off easily next time.

Nice soft brush, warm water with liquid soap, elbow grease and a rinse....£cost ?...nothing but time.

If you wash the wheels regularly (weekly) you probably shouldn't need anything other than a good quality shampoo (Meguiars Gold Class is my preferred shampoo) and warm tap water. I rinse off with rain water stored in my big smelly (water) butt! Before the wheels dry out completely I apply wax to the rim to all accessible areas, leave to haze and buff off.

If you haven't washed your wheels for a while and you have ingrained dirty wheels - particularly the fronts - then you would benefit from using a good quality wheel cleaner. Meguairs again for me but not their Mirror Bright stuff as it sucks. If you use a wheel cleaner only do one wheel at at time, spray liberally - including the tyres - and work in with a detailing brush (Autoglym Hi-Tech Wheel Brush is excellent) and THOROUGHLY rinse off. DO NOT allow wheel cleaner to dry on. Once rinsed off move onto the next wheel. Ideally, don't spray wheel cleaner onto all 4 wheels then start cleaning as it may dry on. Do a wheel at a time if using wheel cleaner. Wax your rim afterwards. :)

Thanks all for your replies, I didn’t want to use some chemical that was going to cause any damage. Soap and water it is then :D
