VIOFO A119 V2 Version Dash Cam
Off Amazon about £65

Me and my son have these fitted. My son has had his for 3yrs and works flawlessly.. hence me buying one. A low profile and if you also can hard wire with

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 2646767675

And use a piggy back fuse attached to the wing mirror fuse... The fuse box is just in the passenger footwell.

Fitted in less than 30 minutes by myself ... No wires on show and as above hardwired

Fancy one of these or the later 119 Pro version.

Any chance you can post a picture to show the location you have attached it to the windscreen.

Thanks Mark

Very easy to do... Just make sure you get the micro piggy back fuse holder 👍

Whilst my front camera isn't the same, I mounted it in a similar place to Steve.

The UK Road Traffic Act 1988 regulations state that a camera must not intrude more than 4cm into the secondary wiper clearance zone, or more than 1cm into the primary zone. The primary zone is a 29cm wide band centred on the steering column and bounded top and bottom by the wiper swept area of the windscreen. By sticking to the regulations, it avoids any possibility of an MOT failure.

If you're interested, there's a diagram on my write-up here: Thinkware F770 Dash Cam & Cellink B Battery.

I use a MiVue 658. It has GPS in it so picks up Speed cameras as well as the cars Nav system and the picture quality is very good. Mine is mounted as high up as I can get it behind the left side of the rear view mirror. I can't see it at all when driving. I know there is a lot about the legal positioning and all that but as the police often ask for other drivers dash cam footage when accidents occur, I doubt that they are too concerned if your positioning infringes the sweep area by a tad or so. As for MOT time, just take it out and tuck the wire away. If it's not there they can't fail you.

I've got a Thinkware basic F50 (old model, now it's a F70 https://thinkwaredashcam.store/product/ ... h-cam-f70/) installed on mine.

It does all the basics I need. Had it fitted over 18 months now and have never needed to reformat the SD card which can be a problem on other makes. I bought the GPS option so I get map data when replaying the SD card files plus speed camera - both fixed and mobile type - warnings. Haven't hard wired it as I keep intending to buy the Cellink B battery which can still be used via the accessory outlet.

Regarding the positioning, mine is to the left of the mirror and possibly slightly into the secondary wiper clearance zone. I can't see any way to avoid that as the lens does need to view through a screen area cleared by the wiper otherwise in raining conditions it would be useless.

I bought a Thinkware F100 from the RAC Shop at https://www.racshop.co.uk/thinkware-f100-dash-cam.html and had it hard wired to my old car, now have it in my CX-3 and never looked back. I think it's one of the entry level Thinkware dash cams despite the price, however there is also the F70 as someone mentioned above if you don't want to fork out £100 for a dash cam. It is definitely worth the money for a good dash cam like this if you want the peace of mind though, if you ask me.
