Just been to see the new CX30 at Perrys and in the flesh the inside is loveley BUT that plastic cladding is just as bad in real life as in the pictures.

If i was changing and didn't want or need a SUV the new Mazda 3 is beautiful.

Yes it is and the saloon version looks even better. However the hatchback will be by far the biggest seller as it is more practicable.

The mazda3 hatch is a great car ... My son has one..he fell in love with it when I went to view the car and interior as I knew it would be similar to the cx30 interior...also in soul red

I don't understand which market sector Mazda are aiming at with the CX30. It is certainly not the prettiest car in their range and the price puts it up against some pretty stiff opposition. Think they have shot themselves in the foot.

I think you are right...just going off the replies to this thread probably 50% or more who currently own a CX3 will not be upgrading to the CX30 and will either keep their vehicle or look for a different brand.

I am 100% certain that having seen the CX30 it is not for me.

Mazda are targeting the European compact SUV market, which is controlled by the Nissan Qashqai, Peugeot 3008, VW Tiguan and others.
I'm pretty sure they are not targeting current CX-3 owners, although some may want to move up in size but finds the CX-5 to be too big and expensive.

Whilst I'm certainly not in the market to upgrade (having just recently bought my CX-3) I have to say that I find the CX-30 to be a better looking car, even with the plastic mouldings. The purchase price initially looks quite high but when you look at the way showroom prices have increased over the past 2/3 years it compares favourably with the alternatives.

Even where sticker prices appear more tempting with other marques, you have to actually sit in these cars to see how cheap the interiors have become (VAG group, for example) then the Mazda looks like good value. Certainly not a bargain, but nothing is these days.

The last batch of CX-3's have been great buys - lots of car for the money, so the CX-30 will obviously look quite pricey, but it's not really.

As for performance, I can't say, although the word is that it's no racing car, if that's even important these days of cameras everywhere.
