Just read about the new Ford Puma ST. Perhaps Mazda following suit with a pepped up CX3 ? Would be a cracker with similar performance figures.

Unlikely, given that the CX-3 is now out of production. See "The end of the CX-3?" thread, all 13 pages of it.

Chas you are right there will be a Sports model - which is being launched in 2020.. but and a big but it is a lhd.. available in the US of A..

The Mazda CX-3 subcompact crossover will only be available in a single Sport trim level for 2020. This single trim level has a few new driver-assist features as standard. The 2020 CX-3 Sport starts at $21,685 with front-wheel drive and $23,085 with all-wheel drive.

The UK Mazda website suggest that are only a few new CX-3s still available, where as in the US of A there are 1000s..

Reading the road tests of CX30 and the 3, all engines are lacking in genuine pep including the new fangled one. Nearly all the companies make a hot version of their cars, where are Mazda's ?

They were saying the same for years about the MX-5. For me it is not about how fast you can reach 60mph, I have never needed to get there in less than 9 seconds, and even if I had tried the traffic would have stopped me. My MX-5 says it will get there in 7 seconds, but that's not what driving is all about. Mazda make great driving cars that give you a buzz when you really stretch them. I had a Ferrari 355 for a weekend and that was no fun whatsoever, far to noisy and difficult to keep on the road. I have done a lot of track day driving in many different cars, but for me there is nothing better than a car that lets you enjoy some spirited driving. Mazda have managed to get a good balance between power and fun and long may it continue.

Well it feels sporty and SUV is a Sports Utility Vehicle so maybe it's better if people stop expecting a racing car and start understanding what driving is all about.

I think the Mazda engines provide the perfect blend of power, mpg, emissions and simplicity - no silly turbos or DSG gearboxes to go wrong and cost £000s to fix when out of warranty.

The very reasons why I bought one, too much bad experience with cvt gearboxes.
