Can you charge the battery while attached to the car?

Mazda say you should disconnect the battery from the vehicle during charging, check the electrolyte level (and top up with distilled water if necessary) and remove the caps

Thanks for the reply jtonline, I used to charge my MX-5 still connected to the car and had no problems, if I disconnect the battery then I assume everything would reset if get my meaning.

I do not disconnect the battery when charging , nor do my garage workshop on brand new cars.

Considering it is such a modern car I am amazed at how much “old school” tech it has. For the past twenty years or so all my cars have had sealed unit batteries.

Cleaned the other half’s car the other day and dropped the bonnet forgetting it didn’t have gas struts, just an old fashioned prop!
