How Clean and Clay?

Hi,

I'm wanting to get a clay mit. I just want to check I'll be doing this right....

1. Wash the car with shampoo and rinse off.
2. Use clay mit a panel at a time with lube.

Questions
Do I also polish or wax afterwards?
When using the mit, can I use diluted car shampoo, or does it need to be the special spray?
After using the clay, do I dry with a cloth, or spray off the whole thing again with water?

I've watched a load of YouTube videos but most just show how to spray and rub, rather than the whole process.

Why do you want to clay?

First you should decontaminate the car with fallout/iron remover and also tar/glue remover. Only at that point should you consider clay if you still feel roughness in the paint.

You will almost certainly marr the paint with clay and it will therefore need a correction (machine) polish afterwards.
You can use water, detailing spray. watered down shampoo or even fairy liquid as a lubricant. If you havent bought it yet, Meguirs do an all in one kit
