My stop start is not acting. Just on a 150 mile trip and back and only istopped once at the end of the trip. checked battery voltage OFF 12.72v ON 14.60 which seems ok to me. Electrolyte levels all well above the plates more than 1/2 inch.

Is this an issue or a result of the just the cold weather / lack of use.

thanks ALL

Probably a combination of the cold weather and lack of use. I installed a new battery and it took a couple of journeys for it to charge sufficiently for the S/S to work.

How old is your battery? I changed ours after 7.5 years. If you check the fuel economy app you can cycle to thru to check the S/S status. You need blue outlines on the engine, battery and A/C icons for the S/S to be "ready".

From memory certain fan settings will either turn on the A/C and/or override the S/S and show it as "not ready".

Personally, I don't find S/S that useful as I don't live in a city and neither my wife or daughter use it.

Thanks Percy247, I think battery is fine. I'll see how it goes.

Continuing on.

I fully recharged my batter with a new smart charger on stop start battery mode, and still the I-stop / start system doesn't operate.

is it possible after 7 years the battery degrades to an extent that I-stop /start no longer works?

Interested in any thoughts.

thanks

I've heard of others having issues after they've recharged the battery. The car gets confused and doesn't know the correct power level of the battery.
But look at the app in the infotainment system as Percy247 suggests and see if it's the battery, engine or a/c which isn't ready.

Thanks Santa

Only the Battery icon does not go Blue, others OK.

Sounds like maybe you need a new battery if you are wanting the S/S to work properly. The S/S not working on our car was the first sign that battery needed changing.

At 7 years old the battery has had a decent life and even slight degradation can prevent the S/S from working.

As a last role of the dice you could top up the battery with deionised water to the max and drive the car for a week or two and see if the S/S miraculously starts working.

Thanks for the replies.
Mazda quoted £150 to diagnose it!

Anybody have a supplier who does suitable alternatives?

I didn't realise that anyone bothered to use i-Stop. I just wish I could switch it off permanently.

Don't waste your money on the diagnosis. Just pay the £150 for a new battery. I wouldn 't be surprised if that fixed your [car] issues.
