Hi
I was wondering if i can use this oil which is the oil which comes up when I search oil on euro carparts for the cx3 using my registration number
-Gulf Engine Oil (1Ltr Ultrasynth X 0W-20) They also suggest this as well Gulf Engine Oil (1Ltr Formula Ule 5W-30) but I am sure I read somewhere the 0w-20 is the one to use.
I don't need it just yet but thought i had better get some oil in for when I need to top it up. I have the petrol cx3. Which would be best to use or do I need to buy specific mazda oil to maintain the warranty ??? Many thanks

Mazda Owners Manual says "...Use an engine oil appropriate for the lowest ambient temperatures that the vehicle will be driven in..." If you look at specs on page 6-23 both 0W-20 and 5W-30 go well below temperatures experienced in the depths of a UK winter. If not using genuine Mazda oil, the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 engine requires oil that meets grade API SL/SM/SN or ACEA A3/A5.

Jakeyboy, can you add your vehicle details to your signature so we can see what you are running.

I would add that if it's a diesel, you must use a C2 or a C3 oil which have a low ash content. Without that spec you can ruin your DPF.

I saw some Castrol Magnatec A5 5W-30 in Halfords.
However, you'll probably find you won't need to do a top-up before a scheduled oil change.

I found myself really low on oil after 6500 miles so rang my dealer who said that 0W-20 was the better of the two oil choices but either will do. Mazda were out of the 0W-20 in the spare parts office so I went down Halfords and got the Castrol Magnatec 5W-30, everything seems fine with this so far, as I would expect. I put in an order with Mazda for their 0W-20 for further down the line.

0W-20 wasn't available at Halfords and they said it was usually only available on-line because there's not much call for it, the fella on the phone said it was "a bit like water!" I suppose he meant it has really thin viscosity!

The fella wasn't sure but said it was about £13.00 for a litre. It was supposed to be available for pickup last Tuesday and I haven't heard anything since so guess I'll end up chasing them.... I'll try and remember to let you know the exact price when I get it but don't hold your breath!

ps the Magnatec was £12.99 for a litre.

In the scheme of things a litre of genuine oil is not expensive. I bought a litre when I got the car, 10,000 miles ago, and have only added half a litre. Seeing as a tank of petrol is fifty quid, oil is cheap.
Car sold - but still following Mazda.
