The TPMS alert went off this morning. I found a thorn in the sidewall of o/s/f tyre and o/s/r tyre down on pressure but on quick inspection I couldn't see why. I took car to tyre place and they found a Pozidrive screw in the tread of the o/s/r.
I got the tyre with the screw in repaired and bought two new tyres for the front.
I took out tyre and alloy wheel damage insurance when I bought the car, so once I've submitted a claim to the insurers, I should get my money back for one new tyre and one tyre repair.
Slow punctures
Julian.

well, I think that's the first time I've heard on this forum that the TPMS has flashed an alert, sorry to hear about the puncture but great to hear the TPMS works as it should and has saved a potentially dangerous situation from occuring! Good luck with the claim jt.
Insurers have approved my tyre damage claim today, and say they will post a cheque within the next 5 days. If I make any more claims totalling over £138 in the next two years, I'm quids in
By the way, if anyone is considering taking out alloy wheel damage insurance for a CX-3, please note that 18" Mazda design 157 is a diamond cut wheel. Some policies (like the one in the Member's Discounts section here, for example) specifically exclude diamond cut wheels. Also, if a wheel has to be sent away for repair, you better buy a spare or confirm the insurer would provide one in the event of a claim, before you sign on the dotted line and part with any cash for the policy.

Just reviving this old thread with my own experince
My TPMS came into action a bit over a month ago:
Over a period of a couple of weeks, it started flashing 3 times, each time the same tire had dropped from 2.5 bars to 2.0 bars (winter tires, so I usually pump them up a bit more than the manual says). Since I was changing to summer tires within two weeks, I didn't do anything about it, except fill the tire up to 2.5.
When it came up on the lift for the change to summer tires, we could see a screw was embedded in the tire, which caused the slow puncture.
So the system worked as it should
