I used to be a sales rep and cover up to 40,000 miles a year. I am more than happy to use the repair kit supplied as a get you home option should it be necessary. I will of course phone the breakdown cover to do it for me and if the tyre is damaged I will accept the lift home. I don't see it as an issue.
You have been very fortunate, unless you have some way of avoiding punctures. We had a flat which cut the sidewalls only 2 weeks ago, the repair kit would not have got us anywhere! Each to their own experience.

Sorry to hear that, maybe you have been 'unlucky'. Most sidewall issues are due to running at low pressure for a long periods. I make sure that I check my pressures on a regular basis. I have had very slow loss of pressure and had these sorted before a driving puncture occurs.

I don't think I will be bothering with this forum any more. Why, why, why do people make such comments?? BTW I check my tyre pressures every week and keep them within 1psi of the specified pressures. 'Goodbye'.

I'm not sure what upset you. I merely said you were unlucky, I didn't mean to infer that you had been running at low pressures, just that it is the most common cause.

Obviously only you know what you meant, but your post, especially your use of inverted commas, did indeed read as if you were inferring that kerbstone had been running at low pressures, and further that he was at fault for not checking the pressure regularly.

We're all here to help each other etc, let's not have any falling out and start drifting down the route of other forums.

Hi,

Does anyone know more about the alternative temporary spare size T145/90R16 quoted above from Mazda leaflet P035/15?

According to my calculations it would be a much better match in diameter to the standard tyres:
Standard 18" wheels, 215/50R18: 215 * 0.50 * 2 + 18 * 25.4 = 672mm
Standard 16" wheels, 215/60R16: 215 * 0.60 * 2 + 16 * 25.4 = 664mm
Standard Spare, 125/90D16: 125 * 0.90 * 2 + 16 * 25.4 = 631mm
Alternative Spare, 145/90D16: 145 * 0.90 * 2 + 16 * 25.4 = 667mm

Can a 145/90D16 tyre be fitted to the standard spare wheel kit rim (for which the Mazda UK site "recommends" a 125/90D16 tyre)?
