Well I've had my cx-3 for almost a month now. Real pleased to say that I'm getting just over 40mpg mainly driving in town and country roads averaging about 21mph. Think that is pretty impressive. Granted I'm not too heavy footed. N find economy is really in the low rpm sub 2k range. Over 2k rpm the economy dosent look too impressive. Any opinions out there?

I never trust the computer as it doesn't know how much you put in and tends to be optimistic :)

It should be accurate, it doesn't need to know how much fuel you put in because it can measure fuel flow rate and distance travelled.

Accepted but i still find it is optimistic compared to brim to brim measurements.

Flow rate is a difficult one as most of what is pumped to the engine returns to the tank. It can better estimate pulse width of the injectors but then calorific value of the fuel and density etc make it unpredictable again. They are not usually as reliable as tank to tank calculations. They also predict driving style so if you drive it hard for a little while it will assume you always drive like that so will lower the average.

Ok I've had my car for 4 months now n average 44.5mpg brim to brim. Wow I'm really impressed. Really strange tho is above 55mph the mpg goes south. Crusing at about 70mph it's pretty poor at low 40mpg while down at 35mph 70mpg+.
