A reply to a topic was posted by a member today that didn't add anything new to the thread. The web link (URL) in the user's signature, however, gave rise to a virus alert from my antivirus software. Along the lines of 'Web attack blocked: Angler Exploit Kit Website 6'.

A Symantec Security Centre writeup says: "Angler is an exploit kit that allows the remote attacker to perform various malicious actions on the compromised computer. Angler Exploit Kit commonly checks to see if the PC is having some AV [antivirus] software and has IE [Internet Explorer], Java or Flash vulnerable... This exploit kit is known for dropping cryptolocker, Powliks, bedep etc payload, if attack is successful..."

I have deleted the post and will ask Rob, the forums admin, to delete the user account. The forum moderators and admin will not be checking every link posted.

:!: Please make sure you have reputable, up to date, antivirus software on your computer when surfing the World Wide Web and reading emails (I use Norton Security) and that your operating system and applications are kept fully updated. :!:

I've deleted 2 spam threads for shoes this morning. I was hoping we'd seen the last of that nonsense and now malicious posts too?

What is wrong with these creatures.

You mean the one with shoes?

No of course not. Don’t worry we don’t suspect any of our members.
