DPF Issues?

I've got a 2016 Mazda CX-3 with around 41,000 on the clock which is majority motorway milage. The car seems to be frequently running regens to clear the filter, no DPF light comes on, but the engine fan kicks in and the blue glow around the engine on the start stop info panel disappears.

I've had 3 last week, one on Tuesday after a couple of small journeys and, then it regenned again on Thursday after a 200 mile motorway run and then again on Saturday after another 200 mile run on the motorway.

The car is going into Mazda soon for the alloys replacing, they've said they'll look at it then.

But was wondering if anyone else has had any issues similar, or wherever this is just the joy of owning a modern diesel as they get older / increased millage. The car has always been run on Shell v-power.

You'll have to see what Mazda say, that seems to be rather excessive - Only vehicles I know of doing that many regens are 'fixed' (spit!) EA189 VW's!

Mine's done 37,108 and although it will be doing regens, to be honest I never notice them, so can't help you on the frequency.

It seems unusual that yours should be doing a regen. after a long motorway run, as by then everything including the exhaust will be up to temp. The radiator fan would come on, just to cool the water, and I don't think the iStop indicator is a reliable sign that a regen. is happening. I suppose you might notice a sudden drop in mpg on the dashboard display.

It will be interesting to hear what the Mazda technician says.

It might be I'm mistaking it for something else, but it the fan / istop was when the car was driven the day after the motorway journeys. Once the engine had gotten up to temperature the fan kicked in and istop was in operative.

Certainly will be interesting, I'm hoping they that they do find something as I'm due to change jobs in October which means I won't be doing as many motorway runs, so likely to aggregate the issues.

The car went into Mazda yesterday and they couldn't find anything with the dpf, describing the type of journeys that I do and when the regens occurred they were just as confused as I was.

They did advise that the car was behind by 2 updates, I'm not entirely sure on how often Mazda release updates, but given it was only serviced 4000 miles ago by a different dealer I'd of thought that it would of had all the updates.

They've updated it and told me to monitor it and to bring it back in if it does do a regen after a long journey, as in their opinion it certainly shouldn't be performing a regen after multiple long motorway runs.

After around about 1000 miles of mostly motorway driving, I noticed my first regen since the car was updated. Figured that maybe the updates had resolved the issue.

That is until this week, where on Wednesday morning the car was regenerating after pulling into the works car park after a 16 mile motorway run that morning, plus an 180 mile motorway run on Tuesday morning, and less than 60 miles later, again majority is motorway milage the car performed a regen again this morning!

I'll be contacting Mazda again and seeing what they say again. From the 8th October I'll be doing very little motorway runs, the drive to work will drop to 4 miles dual carriage ways intersected with roundabouts (Milton Keynes). So if I've had 2 this week in the space of a few days, I dread to think what will happen when I'm doing 8 miles a day..

Are you sure it is regenerating? The fans will run every time the climate control compressor operates and depending on the settings, the istop will not work. Next time it appears to be doing it, manually turn off the AC and see if it settles. Keep an eye on the blue halo on the engine in the fuel economy meter.

It’ll be interesting to see how the new 1.8 engine compares now it is available.
