For whats it's worth, I prefer to new wheels. Never been a fan of my Diamond cut ones, would swap anyday. In fact, might buy a set when funds permit.
Car sold - but still following Mazda.

My thoughts entirely. Non Mazda ones I like are these old style 6 spoke alloys :)

I'm not keen on the diamond cut wheels either. When my car was ordered they thought it would come with them on it and were going to get them powder coated in black chrome for me prior to delivery. I was very pleased when it was delivered with the new style on it 8-) .

The shiny trim has changed too
Was GT Sport 2.0 Petrol Auto Meteor Grey 39mpg round the doors 46mpg on a run
Now 2019 Mazda 3 2.0 petrol auto Meteor Grey
