I'm not sure if this is something which can be turned off but when I'm on media display on my Sport Nav upcoming roads are displayed at the top of the screen, even though I'm not using the Sat Nav. Is there a way of turning it off does anybody know, like I say I'm not using the Sat Nav so I don't understand why it does it, if I was using Sat Nav it then it would make sense.

No, there is no setting to turn that off.

You might think you're not using the Sat Nav but it is always running.

Sometimes it is annoying. It covers the network connection indicator (hotspot) and I cannot tell if my phone has connected and I have connected services enabled.

If you take out or un-pop the navigation Sim card you will loose the navigation but also the street heads up notification, which if you know where you are going is superfluous..
