As in the subject line, left hand filter lane on a local roundabout car in front decided to stop for no reason - I tooted, they pulled away a meter or two then stamped on their brakes (to teach me a lesson for tooting??) I stopped, the guy behind didn't!!!

Now.... I contacted Mazda 1st Plus who seemed to take it all out of my hands, arranged for a hire car, my car to be picked up and sent to the bodyshop etc etc telling me I wouldn't be charged for anything apart from any speeding/parking offenses I incurred in the hire car, but...... I then contacted my insurance Co (Saga) who said they wouldn't talk to Mazda 1st Plus as they would only talk to me being the one insured..... So how do Mazda 1st Plus get their money back for the hire car and repairs to my car etc?

Anyone had dealings like this before? I'm a bit worried I'll end up with a huge bill for repairs and a hire car that Saga won't be paying for!?

Worried of Bexleyheath

It was all going so well

They will get the money from the insurance company of the person who ran into you. They will really sting them too. I think they charged the insurance company £154 per day for the hire car.

And by the way, I'm gutted for you. Not only for the car, but all the calls you will get for the next two years from the injury insurance lawyers.

Insurance lawyer calls I love, the last one I got went like this :-
I understand you were involved in an accident?
Yes
I'm sorry to hear that, could you tell me the details?
Well, I've done it now... she had it coming, it was the last straw... There's blood everywhere, what do you think I should?

Sorry to read of your accident.

If an accident isn’t your fault, 'Call Mazda First' say they recover all costs from the other party’s insurer. Similarly, they say there’s no extra cost
if the accident was your fault. If you have comprehensive insurance, your only liability is any uninsured cost, such as policy excess. If your car is recovered and your insurer rejects your claim, you would be liable for the vehicle recovery costs. See the PDF leaflet on this page https://www.mazda.co.uk/owners/call-mazda-first/

My Document of Insurance says "...Speak to us before you make any arrangements for replacement or repair..." Not sure how they would deal with an accident aftercare service like the Mazda one.

Yes, we felt the No plate was a definite bonus when we bought the car :D

I have had two accidents in 53 years driving, and each time I was rear ended whilst stationary, so I feel your pain.
At least if it ever happens to my CX-3 there will be no problems between Mazda and my insurers, as Mazda are my insurers.

Thanks JT, I have read that PDF as well and the bit that's a bit worrying is the 'any uninsured cost, such as policy excess' bit - I'd rather not lose that! But as it's an obvious 'no fault' claim I'm hoping all will be well. I also have the dashcam footage of the idiot in front stopping then driving off rapidly, although for some reason the date and time is out, showing as 30/09 22.00 when the actual date/time was 01/10 15.30! I know I set it correctly when I installed the device - Strange?! :?
