Hi folks

I have damaged my drivers front fog light surround, anyone know if I can just replace the damaged panel or if I need the whole light unit and is it a job I could do myself?

See attached pic..

Thanks

Andrew

OK, digging up this old thread as I have an answer that may help members in the same situation sarching for help.

The damaged silver cover in the photo is a separate part that can be prised out of the black fog light/indicator surround and a replacement clipped back in. No need to remove the black surround or the front bumper. You could remove the surround and then unclip the silver cover if you wanted to. The surround can be unscrewed from inside the front bumper and is accessible if you put the car on a ramp and remove the tray from under the bumper on each side and reach up.

You'll need to be sitting down before you read the next bit... :P

The genuine Mazda parts, D10J-50-C12 (right) and D10J-50-C22 (left) are £59.13 and £78.30 + VAT from a dealer.

Those Mazda UK dealer prices make no sense - both should be identical prices for each side. Shame we can't get them at USA prices - they can be bought there for $48.13 for either side i.e. works out at £38.11. Even adding the dreaded VAT would only be £45.73 !!!

I guess the price difference is based on them selling more of one than the other, over time. I'm not surprised at the cost of accident repairs to insurance companies if those are the prices of some tiny bits of plastic trim. Some Mazda parts are quite reasonably priced though.

Or may be go for a pair of aftermarket black gloss surrounds with built in LED DRLs instead ;)
