The last three brim full fill-ups consumption figures have proved to be remarkably consistent on similar local type journeys, namely :-

291 miles 41.35mpg
319 miles 41.15mpg
281 miles 41.45mpg

Never had that happen since I’ve owned it.

Not given it a thought seeing what mpg I'm getting, though the cost of the weekly fill up is fairly consistent factoring the ever fluctuating price of fuel.

Though for a 2ltr petrol 4x4 which does quite a bit of rural up and down dale driving, rather long motorway runs, I don't feel its expensive to run.

Also with this last fill up since having the new tyres and rear brakes fitted I felt there was a slight reduction in the weekly cost, will have to see how the next two or three fill ups compare.

I wonder if this might be because the factory fit TOYO's aren't rated great on the EU fuel economy label (I think they come out as a D?) I remember when I switched from Continental EcoContacts on my Nissan Note to the Kumho Ecowings it felt like I was getting a few more miles per gallon than before.

I'll have to a look to see if when I switch out the Triangle tyres (rated D also) on mine to the Pirelli Powergy (rated B) ones if I see a change. At the moment I get between 38-39mpg

Normally get 45-48mpg. Currently showing 47.7mpg on trip computer. If careful can get well over 50mpg.

Although the computer currently says 42.7, I've recorded my fuel consumption at every fill up since I got the car 2yrs ago (using the Fuelio app) and it has registered an average of 40.77mpg over that time. This is a shade higher than the Honest John figure (for a 2litre petrol automatic) of 39.4.

Mpg has tended to be consistently in the high 30s in colder months and low 40s in the warmer ones. My last three fill-ups have reported 38.78, 38.03, 41.84, so less consistent than the OP's. Looking back over my timeline, I have had a few periods of three consecutive results very similar to each other. I can see one from the summer of 42.50, 42.61, 42.43, 42.89, for instance.

Obviously I have had a few outliers, primarily from longer journeys with more motorway miles than my typical commute. My highest ever in this car was 49.73 on a return journey to Westward Ho - lots of extended periods at about 58mph.
