Hi everyone I have a 2018 diesel model cx3. Its been making a very strange noise over the past months so took it to the local mazda specialist. Who had never heard the noise before. I left it with them and they seem to think it's the fuel pump. I have been quoted £2300 plus for it. The car is only done 30000 miles its ridiculous for the pump to go at that. The mazda technician even said it looks like the same issue that was on the recalled ones but apparently might isnt on the recall list. Wonder what my options are 2300 pounds is alot. Many thanks

If the car has a full Mazda franchised dealer service history, ask a dealer to investigate and then put a goodwill claim in to Mazda UK for you.

Sadly doesn't have a full mazda service history the car only went in once with mazda because of millage and covid but did go to places that honoured the warranty so does have a full service history I bought second hand from a franchise when it was 3 years old I have had it 18 months .. It has been to a mazda franchise to diagnosis the problem and they said fuel pump. I think that's poor for a car that's only done 30000 miles .... thank you for the response

I wouldn't mind betting this is connected to the recall fault even though this model is not one of those on the list? -I would keep talking to dealer and see if they budge

If it’s the fuel pump we don’t know what the caused it to fail.
If you had an extended warranty you could claim on that, but you can’t take out a new policy with the car having a pre-existing fault.
Mazda UK are unlikely to be willing to contribute to out of warranty repair costs in this case as they’ll be uncertain as to the quality of servicing, but it’s worth asking anyway.
You could also maybe consider taking your chance with a second-hand part from a breaker or eBay to save some money.

I think the current recall is only for low pressure petrol pump, and the OP’s car is diesel.

You need to obtain a detailed breakdown of a quote for £2300. Parts being replaced plus Labour Cost. This sounds more like a reconditioned engine cost!
